Monday’s opening night of the 2014 Citizens Bank Classic at Van Buren High School was special for the Loyd family.
Randy Loyd, Van Buren’s longtime boys’ coach and athletic director, invited Pea Ridge this year to the tournament, coached by his son, Trent.
Both the Pointers and the Blackhawks opened the tournament Monday with victories before a large contingent of family and friends. Van Buren whipped Shiloh Christian 65-22 while Pea Ridge downed Greenwood 73-57.
